This weekend was one of the best I’ve had here in Vegas.
It started out on Friday. Andrew and I met up with a few friends from Card Player and played drinking games… Ahh makes me miss college. (We played Ef the Dealer and Bull Shizer Pyramid. Alex got Effed, and Fast got pwned.) Afterwards we put in a quick session at Wynn, both booked wins, and went home. I was super excited for the next day because I was seeing New Moon with a couple girls! Crazy for me, I know– Mary and Renee, both girlfriends of poker players and so awesome. Anyway, we share a teenybopper obsession for the Twilight series, so we went together.
It was soooo funny hearing/seeing the reactions of all the girls in the audience. Every emotion was amplified x10! There was so much squealing and clapping, I couldn’t help but laugh. Being the aspiring author that I am, I was thinking about how amazing this all must be for Stephanie Meyer. Then, I was thinking about all the hysteria these books have created. She’s basically tapped into every woman’s fantasy… have two SUPER hot guys adore you (no matter how un-special (i think i made that word up), awkward, and clumsy you may be), have them fight over you, and have them want to protect with their lives and save you over, and over again. Sound good? Hmmm sounds good to me.
Luckily for me, I have one super hot guy who adores me no matter how unspecial, awkward, and clumsy I am. Yeah!… everyone say Awwwwwwwwww.
Anyway, so I get out of the movie, and there is my very own Edward standing there, waiting for me (minus the sexy creepy white skin and awesome weird vampire thing) . He greets my friends and then says, “Hey sorry to pull you away, but do you want to go to the UFC fight? For $100″ Uhhh YEAAAAAAAH!
So these Swedish guys, who Amo and Tmo have befriended after playing poker with them at the Wynn, had $750 face-value tickets that they were willing to give us for $100. They were reserved for some other people who didn’t want them after Brock Lesner withdrew from the fight (Brock is the big ass mo fo who drinks coors light cuz bud light won’t give him money).
We went to the fight and I was feeling severely under dressed (I had my emo outfit on for New Moon). Amo and I placed two bets, $3o on Kroscheck over Johnson and $30 on Forrest Griffin over Tito Ortiz. We watched dudes punch each others’ face in, drank beer, and won both of our bets!!!I loved the fight, but honestly, I can’t see myself spending more than $100 on going to one of these which is near impossible, so it was definitely something special.
With a little buzz going, we didn’t want to stop there, so we went to Forrest Griffin’s after party at Jet. We did some dancing, I lit a few matches (apparently I’m a pyro when I drink), and one of the Swedes “let it rain” $100 worth of $1 bills (Lost in Translation, so cute). Obv, we took a cab home.
Hungover and dehydrated as all get out, the three of us – Amo, Tmo, and I (I like to call us the Tripod), got up to watch the Cowboys game. We squeaked out a win 7-6 over the Redskins. Sweet!!! You don’t want to s
ee Tmo after a Cowboys loss. It’s like the Incredible Hulk ‘cept, not a scary Alien green color.
The Tripod made it over to Town Square and watched the movie The Blindside. IT WAS SO GOOD! It’s a true story about the life of Michael Oher of the Baltimore Ravens. If any of you guys have seen it, let me know what you thought!
Anyway, this was just a quick update– nothing earth shattering. It’s just that this weekend was so random. Usually my weekends consist of playing poker, playing poker, being boring at home reading a book, playing games with friends, or playing poker.
I hope you guys are doing well and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
<3 Kris
P.S. My friend Ryan found this, Twlight summed up, and it’s hilarious. Although, I don’t know how I feel about “thinking like a 13-year-old.”
P.P.S. Thank you again for all the positive support I got about my last post. It was so hard for me to final push that “publish” button, but I’m so glad I did.
